Hello! I'm José David, a Software Developer with over 7 years of technical experience in IT support, system administration, and backend development. I specialize in Python, Linux, and cloud infrastructure, with a focus on building secure, reliable systems.

My professional journey began in technical support, where I spent years troubleshooting complex systems, managing integrations across healthcare and financial services, and solving problems under pressure. Working in regulated industries taught me the importance of security, compliance, and system reliability—values I now bring into every project I build.

I started teaching myself to code because I wanted to move from fixing problems to preventing them. I've built full-stack web applications using Django and deployed them on AWS, automated infrastructure workflows with Bash and Python scripts, and implemented CI/CD pipelines for continuous deployment. My background in technical support gives me a practical perspective: I build systems that are maintainable, well-documented, and designed to work in real-world production environments.

Currently, I'm pursuing my Computer Science degree while actively expanding my skills in DevOps automation, networking, and cybersecurity. My long-term goal is to work in cybersecurity, where I can combine my understanding of systems, networks, and development to build secure infrastructure and protect critical systems. I'm particularly interested in security automation, network security, and the intersection of development and security (DevSecOps).

I believe in continuous learning and hands-on practice. I don't just read about technologies—I build with them. Every project I take on, from automating backups to deploying applications in the cloud, is an opportunity to deepen my understanding and develop skills that translate directly into real-world solutions. I learn best by doing, experimenting, and sometimes failing forward until I get it right.

FROM BROKEN MACHINE TO LINE OF CODE

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been captivated by how things work. I would spend hours taking apart gadgets, repairing mechanical devices, and even building small contraptions just to see them function. My fascination started with physics and science, but it soon extended to computers, where I discovered how software could breathe life into technology and create entirely new possibilities.

As I grew, I found myself setting up and fixing computers for family and friends. These experiences taught me not just the mechanics of devices, but also the patience and problem-solving skills needed to troubleshoot and improve systems. Over time, my curiosity naturally led me toward software development and cybersecurity, areas where logic, creativity, and strategy intersect to solve real-world problems.

What excites me most is the intersection of hardware and software — understanding how things work from the inside out, and using that knowledge to build smarter, more reliable solutions. Even as I pursue software engineering and security, I still carry my love for mechanical systems, dreaming of one day blending both worlds into projects that are practical, innovative, and well-engineered.
